Synchronity

I don't know what to title Mikage's story in general... The note it's on is called "Slash" because of Hakune's Zanbato (and the fact that he and Mikage start off as rivals of sorts). But that's kind of a crappy name.
I wanna call it "Atomic Shadows", but I'm not quite sure... Seems fine? :3

Anyways, backstory time! xP

As mentioned in Siesta's pic, Mikage's childhood was abusive. It's probably the worst of any character I've ever had, since he lived with a human mother that hated him (and she was a drunk as well), had his dad walk out on him and was eventually sold to a slave ring for a while and became a combat slave so his mother could afford to buy food.

Before that, though, she was both emotionally and physically abusive to lil Mikage, just cus he had demon blood in him.

At the time that Mikage's dad abandoned them, he said something to the mother that made her flip out and just go apesh!t. This is partially why she has custody over Mikage (spite), although that didn't really do her any good. Seeing as the husband was a demon, there are some differing rules in the Ceres society.

Long story short, she gets nothing from him, other than Mikage and a helluva lot of spite.

So, after a while of being berated and used as nothing more than a maid for her (as much as one can be with little supplies, at least), she heard from a neighbour about a fighting ring that, if the demon you bet on won, shelled out a lot of money.
Naturally, well...

Mikage almost ended up dead from this whole thing, if it hadn't been for both Siesta and a raid of the arena the fight ring was held in. After the officials (a mix of all races) fined Mikage's mother (who is named Lyra, btw) and returned Mikage to her, well...

To be short, she went off the wall. So Mikage ended up snapping thanks to Siesta's help (it's Siesta who took control over his body and ended up kiling Lyra).
This is the scene directly after that event.
So in a way, this can be counted under the child series.

After this, Mikage manages to garner the attention of a still-alive Siri, who is Yoru's father, for the ones who don't know or have forgotten. The two cousins (as he is a Suzaku) grow close to the point that they form a brothership of sorts; this is what ends up inspiring Mikage to become like Yoru (who eventually goes from a soldier to a Commander).
Hence why he went to a Battle School (Minerva).

Mikage's friends were met and made in his old town back in the days of his childhood, although he didn't meet up with them again until middle school.

Someone please remind me to do a full-colour ref of Reiki, Hikaru and Denkou! I drew em a few times, but I forgot to actually colour those pics!
And for as little times as they pop up, they all share a tight bond with Mikage (Reiki and Hikaru especially; the former because he's Mikage's spar Partner, the latter because she's his crush).

...oh boy, doing THIS in manga-form'll be fun! So many fight scenes... xD

Siesta doesn't exist after Mikage leaves Minerva, btw. SPOILERS! (/shot)
Ah, but it has to be said. Because Mikage has Siesta with him, he's under suspicion by full-blooded demons at times because having a Hell Sister (as I'm going to dub her) by his side makes him part of that rebellion group, unwittingly or not. So yeah...

And Hakune (the kyuubi of his story) is a son of one of the Demon Lords in the Ice Region's Council. So yeah, reaaally not a good thing for Mikage...
